As I was reminiscing, I remembered all the great outdoor activities and road trips we got in this summer. I must say, compared with last summer this one has been much more eventful. It is easier to get out and moving when your youngin' is almost two rather than under one.
A particularly great camping trip was when we all went to Antelope Island for a family reunion. It was fun to see the Johnsons and to visit with the Jones prior to their move to Yuma. The only things tainting my memory of this event are the almost unbearable moments in the car when Aubrey just couldn't stand being belted in any longer. When we were but only ten minutes from our camping spot, I thought Aubrey was about to blow up. She was so bored and sick of being in the car. This was the conversation between my mom and me:
Mom: So, Aubrey's getting pretty bored. (Insert here Aubrey groaning in the backseat and arching her back against the carseat straps.)
Me: Er... Did you give her a book?
Mom: Yes. And a snack. And a sippy. Nothing is working.
Me: Uh, you see anything else she might like to play with?
Mom: (giggle) Yes. This should work.
Me: OK. Thanks.
(Ten minutes pass in blessed silence. We arrive at our camping spot.)
Me: (Opening the back seat to retrieve Aubrey). Eek! Richard, hand me the camera...

Who needs a backseat DVD player when you have TP to play with?

You're so funny Holly. That story's priceless and I'm glad you got a pic to go with it. I miss summer too!
OH I miss summer too!!
Hahahahah! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. What an awesome Grandma.
Ha! That TP story was especially funny when I got up from the computer for a sec and found a pile of toilet paper on the living room floor just now where Truman must have found it.
How is it that a roll of paper lasts for only ten minutes in the car and only two days in your bathroom. Look at all of that stuff!! It's great, I had a wonderful "child" moment through Aubrey's eyes!
Love,
Marem
