Happy Birthday, Richard!

Yesterday was Richard's 28th birthday. In many ways, it was just like another day--Richard woke up at 5:45am to exercise and study for a test, he went to work, and he went to class all evening. Though the day was filled with responsibility, we tried to get some celebratin' in.

Saturday night we went out for a birthday date to dinner and a movie. We ate delicious mussels, salad with a balsamic vinegarette dressing, prime rib, and pasta. Mmm. While we were out, however, the power went out at our house due to the insane winter storm that hit us over the weekend. Needless to say, our babysitter was a seasoned veteran when it came to caring for small children without power; apparently she has done it in the past when looking after her three younger siblings. Phew. Disaster averted.

Yesterday, I cooked Richard a special birthday lunch. We had chicken marsala, linguini, peas, and bread. At work, Richard's co-workers threw him a little party as well with a chocolate cake and two dozen helium balloons.

Today, I took Richard his gift from his parents--a new CD player--to his work for him to enjoy. Throughout the day, Aubrey and Moxy have been enjoying the now-near-deflated balloons.

Happy Birthday Richard. Yes, life doesn't slow down - I just did homework all weekend - not much of a party person right now... Maybe next year I'll send you both to Hawaii while I watch the baby (babies?);O
Love,
Marme

Mmmmmm, you're making me hungry :) Happy B-day Richard! Glad you partied.

Hey, tell Emily to look up this article: Winnifred C. Jardine, “How to Be a Gourmet and a Mormon Too,” Ensign, Dec. 1976, 47–48" at lds.org. It gives great substitutes for liquor and wine in fine cooking :)
